The sixth poem in the Moment Poetry collection is ‘The Moon Over My Mother’s House’ by Laurie Kuntz.
The Moon Over My Mother’s House
could never be seen,
what I remember are clothes lines
and antennas and forgotten apple trees,
fruit rotting from above
then falling to unweeded soil.
Had she wanted to see the moon
would she have known where to look?
Her life being sworn to the ground,
cemented to the day-to-day pulling
clothes off a line, quickly,
because of unexpected rain.
